We are working exclusively with this AAA console studio in the Midlands and they currently require Technical Design Lead to work on an established AAA console/PC project. The studio is looking for a highly technical individual who also has a passion for game and system design. They can consider highly capable computer science graduates or seasoned programmers (or indeed designers who have recently already made the switch from programming to design). You will play a key role in the design department, bridging the gap between the design and programming disciplines.

Applicants must have the following:

- Superb C/C++ programming abilities

- Strong academic background - 2:1 or 1st in Computer Science preferred

- Deep knowledge of creating gameplay systems

- Experience with industry standard design tools - eg Hammer, UDK etc

- Visual scripting experience - eg Kismet, Blueprints etc

- Experience of data driven design - eg XML

Role

This role is a hands-on software engineering position within a growing team focussed upon customers who require additional features in our software drivers or specialist help in realising their products. Additionally from time-to-time you may be involved in the maintenance of mainstream drivers on specific customer hardware.

 

Examples of projects undertaken include:

- Helping customers ensure that the graphics performance of their end-products is as high as possible, prior to release

- Working closely with customers, modifying drivers to enable enhanced operation for specific applications

- Porting of Linux-based device drivers to various embedded operating systems.​ This includes 3D graphics (GPU) and video decoder drivers.

- Development of H264/H265 Video Codec Simulation Software
