The purpose of the role of Test Engineer is to ensure that the software works successfully across a number of operating systems and development environments and a broad range of smartphone and tablet devices. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the development and running of an advanced testing capability for devices and platforms at the forefront of mobile technology.
 
Essential Requirements:
- Demonstrable competence in ISO Standard C++ programming (to be ascertained by a set test).
- Competence in Python.
- Engineering experience of at least one mobile device platform (e.g iOS/Android/Symbian)
- Familiarity with more than one Integrated Development Environment (e.g. Visual Studio/XCode/Eclipse)
- Experience in test specification and implementation for a software product.
- Experience in the use of commandline compilation and make tools (e.g. MS VC++ tools, GCC/GNU tools, Ant).
- Experience in automated test operations.
- Experience of SCM tools and SCM-controlled codelines (e.g. Perforce/ClearCase/Git/Mercurial/Bazaar).
- Strong defect investigation, analysis and reporting skills.
- Good communicator, willing and adaptable team player, determined and resourceful problem-solver.
- A good BSc. in computer science/computer engineering or related field.
 
Desirable Assets:
- HTML/PHP/SQL skills.
- Experience in the configuration and use of Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Hudson/Jenkins,CruiseControl,BuildMaster,Electric Commander).
- Experience in the configuration and use of Bug Tracking tools (e.g. Bugzilla,Trac,Mantis,Fossil).
- Experience of Binary Compatibility maintenance issues.
- Experience of gathering defect statistics.
- Familiarity with software provenance and IP (intellectual property) issues and associated tools (e.g. BlackDuck,Oloh,Fossology).
- Familiarity with code coverage concepts and tools (e.g. TestWell CTC++,Micro Focus DevParter, Cantata++).
- Familiarity with static analysis concepts and tools (e.g. Coverity, DevParter, Klocwork, cppcheck).
