Lead Programmer – Brisbane

This newly created role reports directly to the Programming Manager and is responsible for the programming functions within a game project team. As a potential successor to the Programming Manager this role is not only responsible for game programming within the team but also involved in future technical direction across the studio.

Position

  • Assist with the recruitment and development of technical talent, ensuring sufficient resource coverage and effective team cohesion.
  • Create, implement and maintain a programming schedule including the identification of any potential production risks.
  • Architect and implement high-risk code development.
  • Lead the support of designers, artists and sound developers as clients of the programming team.

To succeed in this role you will be a strong team player and have a passion for technology. Key position requirements include:

  • Bachelor Degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated Game Programming experience on at least one completed title.
  • Proven track record in effectively managing employees and building successful teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with a methodical and patient demeanour.
  • Strong 3D Math background - must be able to solve 3D math problems.

Senior Programmer - Melbourne

The Senior Programmer is responsible for the systems design and programming implementation of technical and game design documents. We currently seek someone familiar with PS2 and GameCube architecture, and who has developed engine code for at least one shipped title. This position will report to the Lead Programmer and the Technical Director.

Position

  • Researching and implementing new technologies.
  • Developing reusable system architecture.
  • Develop and code the more complex game systems.
  • Assist with forming schedules.
  • Complete programming tasks in accordance with schedule.
  • Perform functional testing on their code.
  • Fix bugs.

Requirements

    Significant game industry experience with experience in a senior role.
  • Strong C and C++ skills, 3D math skills.
  • PS2 and/or GameCube experience is essential.
  • Familiarity with assembly language is essential.
  • Showing particular attention to detail.
  • Being familiar with current games.

Visual Effects Programmer – Canberra

This studio was recently awarded the ‘IGN Developer of the Year 2005’. Additionally, at E3 2006, they were awarded “Game of the Show” for Bioshock from IGN, Gamespot and Gamespy. Based in Canberra, the heart of Australia’s national capital, they are looking for a talented and passionate Visual Effects Coder.

You must have a superb knowledge of C/C++, OO principles, shader language and general rendering technologies that has been demonstrated in recently released console titles. An acute understanding of 3D graphics research areas (including particles, fluid, fog, cloth and screen space effects), along with how to utilise and optimise these technologies in game, is essential.

This role will require you to work closely with the art team, so a good working knowledge of content creation tools is a big plus, in particular 3DS max & Unreal 3 Editor. Communicating your specialist knowledge is of utmost importance, so you must be a team player who is equally comfortable dealing with creative and technical colleagues.

Animation Coder – Canberra

This studio was recently awarded the ‘IGN Developer of the Year 2005’. Additionally, at E3 2006, they were awarded “Game of the Show” for Bioshock from IGN, Gamespot and Gamespy. Based in Canberra, the heart of Australia’s national capital, they are currently looking for an experienced coder with an excellent practical knowledge of in game animation systems to work on its next big project.

The ideal candidate will have developed such a system for a console platform, linking it to the physics, audio and AI components where necessary. A superb knowledge of C/C++ and OO principles is also essential, practical experience of working with middleware solutions is also highly desirable. The position requires a pro-active communicator who is equally comfortable dealing with creative or technical colleagues. Above all though we are looking for somebody with enthusiasm, passion and the desire to make a truly great game.

UI & FX Programmer - Sydney

Role
Successful candidates will have strong problem solving, documentation and people skills. You must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of in-game graphical and shader use, in addition to strong C++ programming skills. It would be preferable that you have worked on at least one major title through to its completion.

  • Game Tools Programmer - Sydney

We are looking for an enthusiastic Programmer who has strong problem solving, documentation and people skills to work on extending our World Building technology. As a member of a tight knit team of world-class software developers, you will be primarily working on further developing our software used in the content creation pipeline. Our key tool in this suite is our World Building Tool that creates and textures terrain, places buildings objects and creatures in the world, and creates game scenarios.

With each of these they have built a reputation as a top-tier developer that is capable of producing innovative work on all major platforms in genres as diverse as RTS, action, and sports.

    They require an AI Programmer. This is a Senior level role, providing expertise and guidance to the programming team in the speciality area of AI Programming. During full production, this person will be working with a small team of AI Programmers.
